What does this actually do?+
Drafts an FCRA § 611 dispute letter to Experian, Equifax, or TransUnion for any items on your credit report you believe are wrong. It includes the exact items, your reasons, the desired outcome for each, the bureau's mailing address, and cites the specific FCRA sections that create their duty to investigate within 30 days.
How long does the bureau have to respond?+
30 days from receipt under FCRA § 611 (45 if you send additional supporting info mid-investigation). If they can't verify a disputed item with the furnisher in that window, § 611(a)(5)(A) requires deletion. If they say 'verified' without real investigation, you can request their method of verification under § 611(a)(7).
Should I dispute all three bureaus at once?+
If the same bad item appears on all three reports, yes — file the dispute with each bureau separately. Each bureau has its own file and its own 30-day clock. The letter supports any of the three; just run it once per bureau with the same items.
What if the bureau says 'verified' and nothing changes?+
The next step is a 'method of verification' request under § 611(a)(7) — the bureau has to tell you who they contacted, when, and what they were told. Many bureaus and furnishers can't document that actual human verification happened. If they still refuse to correct, CFPB complaint + state AG complaint + private FCRA suit are the escalation paths (actual damages + up to $1,000 statutory + attorney fees).
Will this remove legitimate bad debt?+
No. Validation is a procedural right, not a magic eraser. If the item is accurate and verifiable, disputing won't remove it — and repeatedly disputing accurate items can get your disputes marked 'frivolous'. This tool is for real inaccuracies, incomplete info, or items that appear past the 7-year reporting window.
What about identity theft?+
If items on your report are the result of identity theft, file an Identity Theft Report at IdentityTheft.gov first and attach it to this dispute letter. FCRA § 605B entitles you to block reporting of identity-theft items within 4 business days.
Is this legal advice?+
No. PrimeDeck is a drafting tool, not a law firm. For ongoing FCRA violations or a pending lawsuit, consult a consumer-rights attorney — many take FCRA cases on contingency.
